The Club’s Volunteer Appreciation Party was held July 24th, 2010,at Ferg’s Sports Bar And Grill. All members who had volunteered for a club activity over the last year were invited to attend. Approximately forty members enjoyed free wings, burgers and other tasty morsels, washed down with liberal doses of beer and wine, also free.

As the board members have been touting, one of the benefits of volunteerism, besides the warm, fuzzy feeling of "helping out", is the raucous, sometimes rowdy (but mostly not), camaraderie of friendly folks engaging in similar activities.

One of the highlights of the evening was presentation of the award for "Volunteer Of The Year" which went to Andre Dervaes who received a round of "atta-boys" and a handsomely engraved ink pen.

So, are you feeling low because you weren't invited? How will you remedy this situation? Consider volunteering.

The club needs your participation. We currently have openings for
  • Volunteer Coordinator
  • Education (Safety and Training) Coordinator
  • Social Coordinator

Should you be interested in giving a few hours a week of your time, please go to the "Contact" page on this website, contact your club president, Tim Butts or one of the other individuals for more information. The board meets next Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 1001 Cafe after the North Shore Pool rides. We hope to see you there.

Volunteer, Education, and Social coordinators are three volunteer options. The SPBC is special in that people with no experience leading things but enough time can volunteer. When you volunteer, experienced leaders will give you info so you can expand your leading skills.

For people who don't have as much time, plenty of other options exist.

Do you and your friends want to do something together that only takes one week or one day? Contact a board member to ask about the many volunteer options:
Club Social (one week)
Spring Cl[I love cycling]ic (one day to several weeks possibilities)
Water stop at a race (one day)
Advertising and promoting Beginner Bicycle Rides (one day to several weeks)
Etc.

The SPBC is a volunteer organization. We have activities because of generous people donating their time. We'll have even more activities if even more people donate their time.
